We believe everyone should have access to fresh, healthy food. Our programs stem from that belief and help us live out our mission.

Volunteering with Friendship Gardens is a rewarding activity for individuals and groups. It’s a great way to meet other like-minded people, get some fresh air and exercise, and get your hands dirty—in the best of possible ways. Plus, there are always opportunities to eat fresh, delicious food straight from Mother Nature.
Mulch, and soil, and fertilizer, oh my! Any farmer will tell you that growing food takes blood, sweat, tears… and money. Groups or individuals that are able to make a donation for their workday will benefit from a more impactful project. While a contribution is not necessary (we certainly are thankful for your sweat power), even a small donation can make a big difference in growing healthy food for our community

Friendship Gardens—based in Charlotte, North Carolina—is a thriving network of community, school, faith-based, institutional, and backyard gardens as well as an urban farm. Most of our garden partnerships share their harvest for the benefit of Friendship Trays who provide over 750 meals a day to members of our community who have limited access to healthy food; and for the benefit of The Bulb who run a network of mobile markets in food-insecure neighborhoods throughout Mecklenburg County and beyond.
